Robert Ditchey has many years of experience in the airline industry, with his area of specialization being operations, meaning flight operations (pilots), maintenance, and operations analysis.  besides having been employed by four different major airlines as a member of senior management in operations, he has also gained many years of experience as a consultant and an Expert Witness, much of which has involved airlines.

The majority of Mr. Ditchey's airline experience has focused on maintenance.

An experienced pilot himself, Mr. Ditchey was Senior Vice President Operations at two airlines, supervising the flight operations group.  He held overall responsibility for the hiring and training of the pilots.

As a highly educated aeronautical engineer, Mr. Ditchey was an unusual maintenance executive in the airline industry, where advanced engineering education is a rarity.
